When hiring, funding and expansion change the review

The right time to update a submission is when the business changes, not only when a renewal arrives.

Map the next stage

Explain new staff, offices, sales territories, products and projected revenue. Ask about directors’ and officers’, employment-related and cyber questions where relevant. Investor expectations and customer expectations can be different, so keep their documents separate in the review.

A question to take with you

What must be updated before the expansion or funding round?

Value the operational dependencies

List key equipment, cloud providers and services needed to deliver the product. Ask which interruption events are insured and how waiting periods or exclusions apply. A supplier outage and physical damage to an office may need different wording.

A question to take with you

Which dependency failures could trigger support under the proposed terms?

Make the next conversation useful

Bring the current documents and explain any changes. These details are a useful starting point:

  • Product and revenue model
  • Customer contracts and sales territories
  • Revenue, funding, and growth plans

Ask the provider to connect its answer to the actual policy or eligibility terms, including exclusions, dates and reporting conditions. Keep the confirmed answer with the offer.
